Day Eight - Tsukiji Fish Market, Ginza, Nikkei Stock Exchange, Yasukuni Shrine, Imperial Palace Garden, Adachi Ward Fireworks

first stop of the day..... Tsukiji Fish Market!!! where the freshest seafood is. restaurant owners come early in the morning to bid for the freshest seafood that they can lay their hands on. too bad we didn't make it down early enough. missed all the action. but still, we got to see so many fish, some in boxes, ready to be shipped to other parts of japan. and they have weird looking vehicles zooming around. you really got to watch out for traffic there..
and what is going to a fish market without trying any of the sushi bars around right??? with some help from the very very helpful locals, we found ourselves in front of this sushi bar. it's wonderful!!!!!!! the seafood is so fresh, you can taste the sweetness of it. we both got the set which costs 3500yen (about S$43) each and it's totally worth every single cent. the best ever sushi i've ever tasted. wonderful service as usual :) but it's the kind where you have to eat and go cos there's a freaking long queue outside!!! luckily we went early. heh. die die must try.
the tokyo metro has become our favourite mode of transport. it's fast and relatively cheap. and it's comfortable and clean too!!!!!!!!! tho at times, there are a couple of weird posters of almost naked women. heh. off to Ginza!!!!!!!! where we were looking for our Burberry's (it's a 7-storey high store!!!) and Shiseido Beauty Parlor and whatever shopping we could find. but we were too early! got there even before 11am and all the shops were still closed. so we roamed the streets and came across this! a vending machine of a different kind. you buy things like toys, gifts and other raunchy stuff here.. hahaha.... interesting..was actually planning to do my hair at Shiseido but the salon was not open yet. too early to start work. so, too bad, couldn't come back with a funky hair cut! then it was just random shopping. zara was huge. it's like... 3storeys high?!? tried on some clothes there and bu got a rude shock from a little spoilt brat. then swatch!!!!! the lift was amazing!!! it was surrounded by swatch watches!!!!!!! every little corner of the lift!!! and at that building, the show rooms of the different brands of watches had private lifts!!!!!! and each lift was like a mini show case of their products!!
we had loads of time left so we decided to bring forward some plans. so off to nikkei stock exchange! but as technology improves, it's no longer the noisy shouting and violent activities. everything is computerised so we just walked around to take a look. it's was interesting in it's own way. good for ppl going into this line!
next up...... Yasukuni Shrine. felt like we were betraying our ancesters by going there cos this shrine is built for the world war 2 "war heroes" of japan. lots of controvesy when the former PM of japan went to visit and paid his respects. i guess everybody has different views. but from my point of view, they can do whatever they want, cos it's still their ancesters after all. and don't everyone want their ancestors to have a peaceful resting place, regardless of all the wrong-doing? we were probably the only chinese there..
we were so damn tired after that! but we made our way down to the imperial palace. bu was damn grumpy already cos her feet were giving way. hahaha... went in and ummm was quite disappointed due to the lack of things. maybe we were too tired to walk all the way in but from what we saw, it's was just walls, grass, roads. no wonder they say that it's boring to be royalty. took a break at the palace hotel. just sat in their couches, checked with them if the fireworks were still on cos it was drizzling. had to settle dinner. so we went to macs!!!!!! and it ws damn good!!!!!!!!!!!! i had ebi burger, while bu had the teriyaki chicken burger. you can see whole prawns in the ebi filet!!!!! and it was damn shiok!!!!!!!! they had ppl to show you to your seats too!!!!! it's crazy. hahaha... there, we ppl watched cos there were so many ppl dressing up, in preparation for the fireworks later..we were so unprepared for this round of fireworks. the japanese went with mats, food, etc. all ready for a picnic. so we umm.. made do with our maps and plastic bags from our shopping. really. we were in quite a sad state :( the fireworks were ok, 1.5hrs long.. it's crazy. the amount of money that went into the air.. japan is rich. and well, guys would be happy to go too.. cos there were so many girls, dressed in their favourite yukatas, did their hair and make up, just for 1.5 hours of fireworks...
by the end of the day, we were SO tired. legs felt like they were going to fall off. my poor legs, they have worked hard. konked out totally.

You and Me

what day is it
and in what month
this clock never seemed so alive
I can't keep up
and I can't back down
I've been losing so much time

cause it's you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do
nothing to lose
and it's you and me and all of the people
and I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

all of the things that I want to say
just aren't coming out right
I'm tripping inwards
you got my head spinning
I don't know where to go from here

cause it's you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do
nothing to prove
and it's you and me and all of the people
and I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

there's something about you now
I can't quite figure out
everything she does is beautiful
everything she does is right

you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do
nothing to lose
and it's you and me and all of the people
and I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you

you and me and all of the people
with nothing to do
nothing to prove
and it's you and me and all of the people
and I don't know why
I can't keep my eyes off of you
